The “Month of Kristy” Feast

About my feast

“When you have more than you need, build a longer table not a higher fence”.

Every March I celebrate my birthday in many ways throughout the entire month. It’s unnecessarily extravagant, I know. However, this month among the time I get to spend with friends and loved ones, I also want to host a virtual feast to draw attention to - and raise funds for - people seeking asylum in Australia as well as those advocating for peace and justice in Gaza and occupied Palestine. 

During the weekend of March 23-24, I ask you to mark a meal as your “feast” - whether it’s Vegemite toast or a full banquet - and donate a few bucks in support of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) and the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network (APAN). 

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre provides people seeking asylum with access to the essential services they need to rebuild their lives in Australia. The Australia Palestine Advocacy Network harnesses the passion of Australians in support of human rights and justice for Palestine.

Your meal can be as simple or complex as you like, I can share  recipes shared with me via the ASRC from refugees, if you’d like to try something new.

Every donation on this platform will go to the crucial work of ASRC, who are hosting this Feast for Freedom campaign. 

I'll also be asking you, if you can, to make a donation of any size to APAN via their website apan.org.au. 

And I’ve created a prize draw!

I bought it online from Hirbawi myself, and for every $5 you donate on this page or to APAN I’ll put your name in the hat once! Winner drawn 27 March and I will send the kufiya to your home.
