Fundraising
I’m having trouble with setting up my fundraising page – Where can I get help?
For help setting up your page, please refer to our handy User Guide, or you can contact feastforfreedom@asrc.org.au
How do I raise funds?
When you register as a host, a personal fundraising page will be created for you. If you need help setting up your page, view our handy User Guide.
You can share your fundraising page asking your friends to support your feast via social media, email, text message and messaging apps.
You can also download a poster with a unique QR code to your fundraising page. You'll find this on your fundraising page dashboard when you log in.
Monies raised on your fundraising page will be transferred directly to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and all donors to your page receive a tax-deductible receipt automatically by email.
How much should people donate during the Feast?
We recommend each person donates at least the equivalent of what they would spend on a night out in a restaurant.
You can also let them know the impact their donation will make, for example,
$25 can help provide warm community meals so people seeking asylum can share a meal in a welcoming environment
$63 can help cover the cost of medical appointments and medications so families have the healthcare they need.
$88 can help provide crisis accommodation for a family at risk of homelessness.
$125 can go towards stocking our foodbanks so families have access to groceries including fresh produce and other essentials.
Getting Started
What is Feast for Freedom?
Feast for Freedom is a shared food experience in aid of people seeking asylum. Held throughout Australia, it is a celebration of the flavours and cultural diversity that people seeking asylum bring to Australia.
You can register to host your own Feast, and use recipes gifted by our Cooks. They have hand-selected these recipes from their own personal cookbooks for you to prepare in your home or workplace for family and friends to raise funds for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
Alternatively, we encourage you and your guests to bring our own favourite dishes from your culture or heritage to the table.
The funds you raise will help provide food, shelter and health services for over 7,000 people seeking asylum who need support settling into Australia every year.
When is Feast for Freedom?
Registrations for Feast for Freedom 2025 open February 1st and close on March 31st.
You can host a Feast anytime from when you register until 30th April. If you would like to host past 30th April please contact our team at feastforfreedom@asrc.org.au so they are aware of your plans.
Where is Feast for Freedom held?
As a host, you have the freedom to choose where you would like to hold your Feast. It could be in your home, your workplace, a community venue, or even a park!
Why should I get involved?
Feast for Freedom gives you the opportunity to raise funds to support people seeking asylum in a fun, delicious and celebratory way with friends and family.
Imagine sitting down to a tasty meal that has been made following recipes handed down generation after generation by a person who received asylum here in Australia. It’s a great way to help provide food, shelter and health services for over 7,000 people seeking asylum who need support settling into Australia every year.

Most hosts will cook themselves, but you can share the load by asking others to help.
You could also ask your guests to contribute a dish.
I’m not a great cook – can I still host a Feast?
Absolutely! Our cooks have hand-selected dishes that are simple enough for anyone to master and impress their friends with but you can also make adjustments or choose other recipes that you are more comfortable cooking.
For those hosting their Feast in Melbourne, you can also add an authentic starter, side salad or dessert to your Feast with our award-winning social enterprise ASRC Catering. Check out the menu at catering.asrc.org.au
