An Edible Equinox...

Weltschmerz: literally, world-pain; sadness that one feels in the face of all the troubles in the world.

Some mornings it can be hard even getting out of bed in the face of all of our planet’s suffering - war after war, the climate crisis, our increasingly disconnected society - let alone knowing how to begin to help.

Whenever I get the Weltschmerz bad, I need a few simple, but very specific, things:

1. Human connection: with my family, friends, or even a kind stranger on the Bendigo line. Someone to see me and remind me of the good, the doing-our-best-ness, in humanity.

2. Positive action: I find that local, small-scale endeavours are a wonderful place to start, as they're approachable and often have immediate, tangible impacts within my community.

3. A bloody good feed: enough said.

Join me and the brilliant Noa in raising funds for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, as we light a fire underneath my above fool-proof Recipe for Hope. The Feast for Freedom will be our first act as a new sharehouse of two, and we'd love for you to contribute.

We support the ASRC, and we invite you to as well. If you're not yet familiar with their work, take a look here: https://asrc.org.au/about-us/. The ASRC has been providing urgently needed food, housing and health services (and much more) to asylum seekers and refugees since 2001. The organisation is an independent not-for-profit and runs largely off donations from people like you and me. Every dollar we raise will go towards their vital work.

Thank you!
