Beck’s New Parents Late Arvo Lunch/Backyard Picnic (Feast for Freedom) Sat 6th April 1-3PM

Please join me for a late lunch on Saturday 6th April 2024 from 1-3PM and make a contribution to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC). Given the cost of living any donation is welcome big or small - gold coin is perfectly acceptable :-)

I am hosting this because I have felt very blessed to have met some amazing new parents during my maternity leave 2023/2024. I wanted to celebrate this community and mark the end of my mat leave (return to full-time work in April).

Being relatively new to the Central Coast I have felt warmly welcomed when attending Mothers group and Mums & Bubs Yoga etc. The spirit of inclusiveness at our Mothers’ Group in particular is very special. I believe I have met different people each time I have attended. So, I would like to extend the invitation to any mother who would like to come (even if you don’t feel like you know me very well or you are new to the group). 

A bonus for attending is that you can help people seeking asylum with access to the essential services (food, housing, health services) they need to rebuild their lives in Australia.

This is a meal that makes a difference and I’m inspired by the special recipes gifted by refugees that are taken from their own cultural traditions.

 I aim to make 2-3 main dishes and 1-2 appetisers too - both vegetarian and meat options. I will try my best to accomodate for any allergies or food preferences if you let me know in advance. 

I hope to have the meal in my backyard (depending on the weather). Please bring:

- a spare beach tent, gazebo or picnic blanket if you have one so the babies can wriggle around.

-  BYO drinks. (Will provide the basics) 

- partners and babies/older children welcome

Please RSVP ASAP via WhatsApp. It would be good to have a rough idea of how many guests will attend so I have an idea of portion sizes. However, I’m sure there will be plenty of food looking at the delicious recipes ;-). Thank you.
